I was wondering what the story behind the 28' John Allmand was. Is it good or bad? What is it ideal for ? Ive seen a few out there, does it have a rep of its own similar to the bertram? I found one for a good price and good shape and this is the place to gain knowledge. Im open to any and all information on the John Allmand.
Thanks to all in advance

Built it Hialeah Fla.My take is there quality is halfway between a Bertram and Sea Ray or similar high production type boat.More in the area of a Stamas. There are two pamphlets listed on fiberglassics.com in the library section, not 28'.They were built very well and primary hailed as a fishing machine. So big water should not be a issue. Is it a fresh water machine?I/O Merccruiser? If the price is right and the compression along with the drive check out I would not hesitate to own one.How is the wiring etc if salt water. There are some old post just below mine, check them out.

Here, let me look.
Cheap Custom Boat Builder

I know nothing about them, but I'm a little leary of a company that uses,
"We are the leading Cheap Custom Boat Builder, Cheap Boat Manufacturer, Cheap Boat Builder and Used Deck Boats Builder located in USA." as a bragging point, just sayin'.

They may be great but I have questions after I looked them up.

In my opinion.....she is one tough small offshore fishing machine. Classic design, much like the Bertram in it's day.

Looking at the pictures of their builds, they appear very stocky.

Not sure as you noted where the come off with all this cheap this and cheap that stuff. No one in there right mind would be using the word cheap in any advertizing in this day and age.Not sure if I can believe what I am reading. They were not built cheap and they did not skimp on materials back in the 60's and 70's. I did not know that they still built boats.DaNinja noted that the look stocky, yep like a brick s^&*house and they were. The pics of the 28 footer and literature sure tell a different story than there main page.

Thanks to Skelly, I now know 100% more about these boats than I did when I woke this morning. :D

Give me a day with their website developers. They look like a well built ocean boat, but the word "cheap" should not be a bragging point...ever.

Well I received a reply from Todd Allmand and he said he would fire the web designer/PR man as per my suggestion. Not sure if he was serious but most boaters I know would not touch a boat advertized like that with a 10' boat hook. They even spelled revolutionary wrong, not that I have won any spelling bee contsts .You would think someone would of proof read it.
