When I put a new prop on my 1986 40 hp Evinrude, I noticed a slight bend in the skeg. It is probably bent no more than 3/16". With the prop on, I hadn't even noticed it.
The motor is on a 20' Weeres pontoon and I haven't noticed any steering effect from the bend. The pontoon isn't used for anything other than fishing and low speed cruising so I doubt that at the speeds we run that the bend is having much effect.
So, the question is, "Can I straighten the skeg without breaking the old aluminum?"
Maybe I should just leave things alone.

Charles
