Strange 1975? Evinrude 9.9 with cdi

So, I just bought a 9.9 evinrude for a decent deal in pretty good condition but not quite running. Anyways, the it was advertised as a 1975, and the model number, 10524C, confirms that wherever I look. The funny part is this motor has CDI ignition, power pack on the side, flywheel labeled cd ignition, etc. Now, nothing I can find online/ on any of the forums suggests that the motor came off of a factory line like this so I figured there are a few possibilities.
1. Mabey some previous owner didn't like the points and decided to get a bunch of CDI parts together and convert it. I doubt this is true because it looks like all of the mounting stuff lines up perfect to the power head, and all of the wiring looks pretty factory, but I will take a closer look when I get home.
2. At some point someone swapped the entire power head with one from a CDI motor, maybe in the process of a 15hp conversion??
My question is what do you guys think is most likely, or what should I do to figure out what is up with it? Or does anyone know of any motors that were produced as such with that model number?
Thanks!

Alright I took some images, the little silver plug on top is the serial number right? If so it looks like it has a different powerhead.

Thanks! Is there any way to figure out what year or exact model it came from?

Does not really matter as many parts were the same year after year.----But if you insist find your spares under a 1983 model.

Could be that someone put the older clamp assembly on a newer one.... Just never know.

If you order parts, you will know if you have the incorrect ones when they come back wrong!😆😆

Sure, it's pretty faded especially on one side but you can tell what was on it. I'll take some pictures when I get home later.

Thanks, I'll check the carb (fingers crossed!!) before I try to fire it up in a couple days.
I took pictures of the cowling but it was in worse shape than I rememberd it, I'll definitely re paint and do a decal kit at some point.
