I reasoned that if I push the armature plate on the starboard it runs better. With the throttle wide open, the point for the upper cylinder is on the on the portside. Pushing the armature plate on the starboard side results in a smaller point gap. So I adjusted the points to a smaller gap. 0,4 mm instead of the 0,5 mm (0,5 mm is 0.02 inch, so it is now some 0.016 inch) This seemed to help a lot. It runs on two cylinders at wot but still hesitates at 1/4. Since it is not my engine I will let the owner decide if he wants to install new points. But I think making the gap smaller have lead me in the right direction.
