Hello all,
I've been meaning to ask this for a few months now. I bought this boat a few months ago and recently found a weird looking plug when I was wiring in my depthfinder. It is tucked up under the dash to the left of the steering wheel. Does anyone know what it's for?

I don't know, but I bet the cigarette lighter is the power source for whatever it is. Or the PO was making it easier to quit smoking. :noidea:

Can you see where the wires go?

its a molex 9-pin plug that you could find at radio shack. as to what it was wired for, only you and the PO would be able to know. definitely not marine.

Gotta agree with Scott. Plug is not a standard marine item. However a white wire with a green tracer is a standard color for the trim down side of the trim switch. Check and see if you can find where they may go to. Has me curious too.

Obviously the PO wired it in for his or her convenience. Not a marine option that I know about. I would trace the source of the wires to see where the originate from and see if that leads to any ideas... OR, you could locate the PO and ask him or her... :noidea:

It could be the source of a future problem! Probably a good idea to get rid of it after you find out what it did. Splices in wiring are typically a source for problems, especially on a boat bouncing through waves.
