Re: strange engine noise

vibration leads me to suspect the prop shaft or the prop, check the prop shaft be spinning it and get back with me, i have a ghetto fix that WORKS if your shaft is bent.

Howie, yes my shaft is just fine thank you very much! and im going to buy a lotto ticket tommorrow.

Re: strange engine noise

the prop does not show any damage and it spins freely. The engine does not make the noise when hooked up to a flusher but it does it when under way.

look for a slight wobble in the shaft, take off the prop nut and turn the shaft.

Re: strange engine noise

ok, i removed the prop and although the shaft is not completely stable it barely moves when i apply side or up and down pressure. The prop has paint gone but no bending has occured. I did however find about a foot of fishing line behind the prop and on the shaft. I changed the lower end oil and it looked just fine with no water present in the oil. The prop spins freely and everything appears normal.
