I have an 84, 470 mercruiser. Motor starts and runs great, however when I shut the key off as the motor stops I can hear a clinking noise toward the front of the motor. It does it every time but only as motor stops rotation only. No noise when starting.

I haven't pulled the valve cover off yet but hope to tonight. Looking for any suggestions, but am thinking either a connecting rod, rockerarm, or somthing to do with the stator, flywheel assy although noise seems higher up?

Thanks

Problem solved, Pulled Harmonic pulley and found a loose magnet on the inside for the stator assy.Opoxy had let go. I have cleaned everything up and checked other mounts and they are Ok. What is the best opoxy to use to re-install? Will regular Marine silicone do the trick?
