I have not been able to get out to check this,I need one other person to help with launching, and he won't be back till 13th, has been torchure as I have had the boat for a while now and only tested once when this all came up. however, since my last post I did check the plugs, all three have spark and are clean, I have replaced the fuel line, I checked the gear oil plug to make sure there wasn't water in there, as sugested by a mechanic ? and the prop apears to be functioning ok, so now I just need to try everything again to see if it was infact the fuel line, and what you suggested, thank you and everyone for all of your help, soon as I have something to report I will.

UPDATE
I tried a few of the tests that were suggested, and all fuel related lines were changed, since others had the same problem, I was hoping it was an air leak in the line, I am not this lucky, cause I took the boat out for another test run, same problem different day. called the the mechanic and he came down and looked at it again and thought it was time to rebuild all three carbs as there did not seem to be anything else to check. since I don't know myself at this point, it seems like it may be the right thing to do. I will post the results. thank you everyone for all of your help. guess I will be paying for someone else to get me out on the water as the wt. sea bass are hitting and adding more salt to an open wound.

Re:UP DATE - Strange Problem/need Help

First let me say thank you to everyone for all of your help and suggestions, and hope your Thanksgiving holiday was good. now the good news, The three carbs were re-done and replaced back on the motor, she started on the second turn, I took it out on a test run and was able for the first time see how the boat ran and moved through the water, the motor ran smooth and I was able to throttle up full speed, I tested and re tested just inside the breaker wall except one time outside as the swells were pretty big. problem was solved and the mechanic only charged 100.00, I gave him a 50.00 tip for his honesty and XLNT work, with all of the other tests that were done it narrowed it down to re building carbs, even though the engine did not reve up when choke was pushed in as suggested by a fellow member here on iboats to see if the carbs were acting up, they did have problems with gunk built up from two stroke oil and sitting longer than I was aware of, and there was a small piece of rubber hose in one of the carbs. As I had stated when this all started, I know nothing really about fixing or rebuilding carbs, I did learn allot. so I can now focus on putting the electronics on and secure my bait tank. of course I have to wait again as the rain is suppose to come today, but I am on my way until the next issue comes up,and there will be more, I'm a boat owner.

Re: UP DATE - Strange Problem/need Help

if you haven't done so, change all your fuel lines. the "piece of fuel line" was degradation from ethanol. This includes the lines inside the engine.

Just an FYI ... a 70773 model number would be a 1977 ERude 70hp, not a 1978.
