I had a shop do the impeller change on my 85hp Force last week. $75.00, not bad. I could not wait to get it out & try out the "add-a-tell tail" duel exit I installed. When I got the boat it came with 2 plastic 6 gal. fuel tanks, 1 brand new with gauge & 1 older one. I have used both with no problems. I splashed it around 4:30 Sat. afternoon, I didn't have much time before dinner & only wanted a quick test ride & figured Sunday will be all day ride. I only had fuel in the older tank (only use this one for back up), & didn't have time to get gas & oil for new one. I fired the motor up at the dock, a little harder to start than usual, but no big deal. Idled out of no-wake zone (tell tail looked strong) & opened it up--- Nothing. The motor just bogged down & stopped. It did this every time I started it up & then gave it the gas. It started every time, just would not go. It has run perfect every time I had it out since I got the boat. So, I get back to the dock to have a look (no idea what I'm looking for) & got the call "come home, time to go". Bagged it & thought, I'll figure it out tomorrow. I thought it may be the fuel pick up tube in the older tank so Sunday Morn. I got fresh fuel & oil in the new tank. Went up the lake, splashed it, fired right up, idled out, gave her the gas, Nothing. Same damn thing. It did this several times. I pop'ed the cover off the motor while my son worked the control's & I watched to see if anything looked out of place or not working correctly. Don't know why? I don't know anything about o/b motors. I thought the choke was sticking. Anyway, I kind of worked the throttle at the bottom of the motor by hand a few times to get RPM's up a bit & then I was headed in to bag it again. I gassed it one more time & WAM! there we go. right up to speed & RPM. Ran for the rest of the day no problems. What could it have been? Something in the fuel line from the old tank? I drained the old tank & used a strainer, the inside was just as clean as the new tank. Ever hear of this type of problem? I hope it was a 1 time thing. MAXX

Re: Strange problem

Maybe some water was in the can and you sucked it up and it wouldnt pass through the carbs easily. Thats what it sounds like to me and you finally passed it through
