Strap for old winch

I am looking to replace the rope on my winch with a 2" strap. But the center of the winch hub has two holes to pass the rope thru and tie it off. There are no holes on the drum sides. What type of strap end do I need for this, or is a new winch on my shopping list?

Thanks

I assume by rope you mean strap. So with that presumption, new straps are available at any marine store for a low cost and normally have a bolt that passes through the strap inside the drum to hold it in place then you just wind it on. A 5 minute job! Just pick your strap color and off you go.

If the sides of the drum do not have holes to accept a bolt to secure the strap, yes you need a new winch.

When I was faced with the same scenario, I just drilled holes for the securing bolt. Worked fine.

If you are going to drill a new hole for the strap, make sure the Bolt and Strap are directly against the hub of the winch.
