Re: stratos 201 pro prop

First thing I notice is the diameter seems small. I've seen 24" props for 200 Johnsonsthat were 15 1/4",
I did find about 3 props that were under 14" out of a total listing of probably 80 props.
I think the prop should be at least 14" Its possible your prop isn't even intended for your motor.
Is the prop in excellent condition?
Check the motor height.Usually the antivent plate (just above the prop) should be even with or slightly above the bottom.
Is the bottorm clean and smooth, nothing mounted that might disturb the water near the prop?

Re: stratos 201 pro prop

i have tried a 14 1/4 x 24 3 blade and it still blows out and i tried a 14 1/4 x 24 4 blade and it won't even push the boat. my regular boat mechanic told me how to measure the motor height and it seems to be about where he told me which is where you suggested also. it does look like someone has used a whale tale on the boat at some time. i'm thinking of trying that.

If the bottom is clean and smooth and no additions that might disturb the water the motor needs to be lower.
When getting a motor setup suggested height is just that a suggestion.Lower it a hole at a time till venting is reduced.
It might be only a 1/2".
While a tale can sometimes be a solution it usually is a bandage over a poor setup. Under the best conditions they can be helpful.
Sometimes they can reduce speed use more fuel and cause strange handling.
If you can post a couple of pics right at antiventplate level it might help.
