HI There,

I have never posted in here before, but I need some help & advice. I have a 1987 stratos 181P bass boat that is in need of a little help. Most of the boat is casting decks that are fiberglass, but in the console area there is a wood floor with a drain in it. The floor is soft around the drain, I suppose it is best to replace the whole floor?

Problem 2 transom has some flex in it & a couple cracks at the top across the cap & looks like the transom cap had been cut off & replaced at some point, & the wood is wet, Here I was thinking about using the seacast product to repair the transom, what do you think?

I have never had any water in the bottom of the boa, it has always dry in the couple years I have owned it, but I wonder if the foam is wet from previous neglet. I don't know where the foan is there is none down the middle where I can see. With all the strorage & livewell compartments it is almost impossible to see anything. Also it looks as though some of the fiberglass in the back by the stringers is letting go, cause it looks funny like it did not have enough resin on it and it possibly is seperating.

I have used fiberglass many times in the past, on some other minor boat projects but no expert by any means & I don't know what kind off materials, cloth, etc they use for structural type applications. Should the whole top/cap come off this boat, will it come off?

Any help would be great.
Thanks,
Lance

Wow That's quite a project, I hope mine is not in need of that much repair. There is not allot of wood floor in mine. What I would like to do is take the top off, I called stratos to see what all held it down & the guy told me not to do it cause they had attached it with some sort of fiberglass type body filler (bondo) in several spots using blocks attached to either the top or bottom & putting a pile of this mud on the hull pushing the top into it as it was installed so it bonded to the hull & in there experiance they broke the top 50% of the time they removed them. When I look in the few spots I can see the hull they just have fiberglass cloth from the top to the hull & some joints are broke loose. I love the boat for fishing & the last thing I want to do is break it, how did the top come off from yours?
Thanks,
Lance

Thanks for the links interesting projects in there. Any Idea how to get the top off the hull without wrecking it?

Thanks,
