Re: String Him Up!!!

He tried do this before and got off, you wont believe the story that the jury bought and aquitted him with. He told the jury that he thought the girl was going to throw herself into the street so he wrestled her to the ground and that she misunderstood him cause of all his tatoos. [edited] His parole off. tried to have him arrested for parole violation 3 weeks ago but the judge would not.<br /><br />Fly rod and Lubedude, I am thinking the same thing. My younger sons are 11 and 8. I plan on showing them the tape, and talk some more on what I have already.<br /><br />I think he should be put to death also....after his fellow inmates have had their fill, or I mean hes had their fill...If he gets comfortable with that then we finish him or try him shackled in the hog pen for as long as it takes. This would be the one and only situation where I would condone homosexuality and that other thing. Sorry for the visual. But I feel a tad better now having said it.....

Re: String Him Up!!!

boatingfool,<br /><br />I wasn't trying to defend this guy in any way, I was just stating something I heard on the media.<br /><br />I don't trust anything the media says, weather you heard it, or if I heard it, it's still going to be loaded with media spin, so I just don't believe what the media reports to the public, because they will only report to you, what they want you to hear and know about!!!!<br /><br />Its just that I have this feeling that the police found someone who somewhat matches the desciption of the suspect, which Florida Police are famous for doing, and the police just may be trying to make a case out of it by stringing this guy up, no matter what the evidence says, just like the Scott Peterson case in California, just so that they can bring someone to trial and make themselves look like heros.<br /><br />Everyone wants to see justice in this case, myself included, but I do not want to see someone who had nothing to do with this case be railroaded into a conviction that could possibly end his life, just to have a conviction, as quickly and convienantly as possible.<br /><br />But if they can prove that this guy did it, beyond a resonable doubt, then no mercy, no mercy whatsoever!!!<br /><br />All I'm saying is, lets give the police and the DA a chance to make some logical conclusions about the suspect in this case, before we have the trial and conviction here on this iboats forum.

Re: String Him Up!!!

As far as I am concerned this dirtbag should have been locked up for life long before this.<br /><br />If by some strange twist it is not him I still stand by my opinion that this dirtbag should not be on the streets.<br /><br />As far as being proven guilty in a court of law,<br /><br />That is almost a joke anymore.<br /><br />If you have a good enough lawyer who can take any evidence and spin some doubt on it you can walk.<br /><br />Granted this guy does not come from money so that probably wont happen.<br /><br />If he did tell law enforcement where to find her or they can posotively ID him in the video it is a closed case. Period.

Re: String Him Up!!!

From Fox News:<br />"Smith has been arrested at least 13 times in Florida since 1993, according to state records. He was arrested in 1997 in Manatee County on kidnapping and false imprisonment charges, but was acquitted a year later. <br /><br />He told jurors he'd grabbed a 20-year-old woman as she walked along a road because he thought she was going to jump into traffic. The woman testified he'd tried to pull her away, then jumped on top of her when she fell and threatened to cut her. She said she escaped when he tried to pull her to her feet. A police dog found Smith hiding nearby. <br /><br />Smith served 17 months in state prison for heroin possession and prescription drug fraud and was released on New Year's Day 2003. He was arrested eight days later on a cocaine possession charge and was placed on probation for three years. He also was placed on probation for aggravated battery in 1993 and heroin charges in 1999. <br /><br />A state Department of Corrections official said Thursday that a probation officer had asked a judge on Dec. 30 to declare Smith in violation of his probation because he had not paid all his fines and court costs. "<br /><br />Like many have said, this guy shouldn't have been out of prison to begin with. Where/Why has the system gone so wrong?

The judge that released him after recommendations<br />from the parole board that he not be released, <br />should somehow be held accountable.

Re: String Him Up!!!

I can't argue with that NOSLEEP. The whole point behind our criminal justice system is to ensure that the law abiding public is safe from dangerous individuals. Clearly, this guy should have never been allowed to coexist with society.<br /><br />That's what kills me the most about this. This horrible crime was preventable. Our system failed this girl and her family. *sigh*

Re: String Him Up!!!

It's obvious that this thing has affected all of us in a similar way. I'm not sure why, but I guess it was because we actually got to see this this irl even if it was for but a few seconds on film. All I know is that when I saw the film, I thought of my 13 year old daughter. When I heard that they found her body, I became physically sick. We've got to figure out what the he77 is going on with these sickos a get them out of our society BEFORE they do this. I know it's not easy to do without stepping on someone's rights, but I don't care.

As you know I work in the Florida prison system and this guy will cry for protection from the other inmates and be put in a one man cell, he will have out side recreation once a week in a cage by him self and the staff will have to put there neck on the line to keep him safe.<br /><br />Some times the system just does not work the way it should...Sorry

This is the main reason that they ought to bring back public hangings on the court house lawn. Bring the kids let them see the cold hard facts of what happens when you do this. Also dont wait for 10 years do it the next weekend.....

Prison is too soft. It should be the worst kind of place you could imagine. Let them live in thier own filth, let them eat the worst kind of food, make it a place that is so bad men would rather die than go there. Let the conditions fit the crime, the worse the crime the worse the living conditions.

Re: String Him Up!!!

Wait a second guys, if you are convicted of a felony and sent to prison (guilty or not)you become a ward of the state. As a ward of the state, shouldn't you have the basic right to safety? Why should a man in prison be vulnerable to rape and sodomy and murder?? what kind of inmates do you want released???? A guy goes in for robbery and comes out cold, hardened and seasoned murderer? I want each of you, especially the smaller guys to imagine that you have been convicted (guilty or not ) of a felony and will spend at least one year in a state pen. Do you think that rape should be an institutionalized part of your punishment? Do you think that a car thief should be repeatedly raped as part of his/her punishment? Punishment should be what the law calls for and nothing more. I am certainly no bleeding heart liberal, but gal dang, where is the line between justice and compassion? between law and anarchy. between punishment and torture? between God and satan?

Now didn’t they hang WW2 criminals?? Many of them wanted the firing squad, but they were hanged because it was a harsher punishment. If that is true, why can we not hang those *******s today?
