I think you are correct on the reasoning of the stress cracks. I am amazed my boat never came apart considering how little wood was left beneath the deck. The best way to repair is the structure your dealing with. Cosmeticly I am not sure how to repair.
I had originally thought of doing 1 side at a time while on the trailer fearing a problem of flexing. I opted to just adjust all the bunks and guage the bow flex by how the center window closed. Once the glassing is goin things will surely solidify.
