Hey guys, I'm new to the forums here. I have a 1983 Searay Seville Cuddy Cabin with bad, No, Rotten stringers! The engine cradle is also shot. It has a 2.5 omc 4cyl with an 800 series omc stern drive. I bought this boat at auction 12 years ago for 900.00 It paid for itself the first year. It has been parked for 6 years now. This boat has been in rough water many, many times, I love this boat, It's time to bring it back to life. The outdrive is in great shape but I need to remove it along with the engine so I can get to the engine stringer. Does the engine have a 4x4 or what ? It's wider than the floor stringers. Any manuels on how to separate the outdrive from the engine? Thanks Guys

welcome to i boats......your in the right place.....and this is right down iboats alley.......one of our gurus here just did that exact job....(stringers) on that or a very simmelar boat.....it is well documented....full pictures and a great tutorial.......

im a big searay fan as well....and instead of buying a new boat...i am restoring the old one....a 1969 srv 190 i/o...i just loved the boat too much to move on to another.....i bought a 20 year newer boat to put around on this season...and the searay is 10 times the boat the newer one is.

as far as the seperation
once you take the drive off.....it becomes self explanitory....take lots of pictures...so you have a reference........as far as a manual.....get a manufacturers manual...not a seloc......

here is the thread i mentioned....a really good job.......
http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=236286&highlight=unintentional+stringer+job

also the hull extension in progress thread has detailed pics of every process of what you want to do....dont worry about the extension part....the transom and stringers are well documented.....as well as the motor cage....and its not a 4x4....its a bunch of peices of plywood stacked on top of each other

post back here with pics and questions....and well gide you thru every step.

cheers

You do not need one for the boat, you need it for the drive and motor. There are hundreds of stringer replacement posts, just do a search and keep reading for days. As far as the mounts, you can use the existing block/lag bolt style or in my case I used aluminum angle bolted through the stringers.

Have a great day,

Rob.

Re: Stringer installation

Will the seloc manuel be sufficient for the outdrive removal?
