SgtMaj,
You are a little Cynical. LOL
I think it is a little early to be talking about lawyers, law suite, and how much to sue for.
Lets see what they say. It is a big cost to the manufacturer. They are not going to give him a new boat that fast, they will cry about it and drag their feet for a while. He may get a new hull with his motor and his trimmings. But I doubt he will ever see a complete new boat. This could take several months to complete.

So Baineyg you NEED that loaner boat!

Re: Stringer Pushing through bottom of Boat?

Its amazing these days how quickly and how wide spread information can effect a business's reputation. Manufacturers are acutely aware of this. I doubt very seriously if they will let this go. It is in their best interest to take care of the problem with the least amount of hassle to the consumer. I am anxious to see how this one pans out given it initials a catastrophic failure. Keep us posted.

Yes, this will be interesting. How long has the Tahoes been around? I have only seen them at BassPro, but believe they are a division of Tracker Boats. I wonder how long they have been building fiberglass boats?

If they (Bass Pro or Tahoe) start to play hardball, consider looking for the responsible federal group for marine safety. A structural defect (possibly) should be something on their radar.

If that was my boat, I would make sure I get a new boat, NO REPAIRs, NEW.
That is for sure a structural defect

Re: Stringer Pushing through bottom of Boat?

I think everybody needs to slow down a bit. All we've seen are a couple of pics and not much more information as to how the boat was used, or a look at the inside to see if there was some kind of failure due to workmanship.

I've seen problems like this before, where a customer comes in with his boat and says my hull failed and it's your (the manufactures) fault.

I was in the lobby of a large well known bass boat company when a customer came in and said the hull on his new boat failed and that it had a big hole in it. He said they were just running across the lake at WOT and it started taking on water. When asked if he hit something he said no, absolutely nothing. As this discussion was going on I went out and looked under the boat, well there was a good size hole, but there was also still wood jammed in the glass that looked like it was ripped from an old piling from a dock, or a log, so much for not hitting something.

I'm not saying that's the case here, I'm just saying it needs to be inspected by somebody from the manufacturer before anything can be done. He may get a new boat, he may not, but it's not even close to making that decision yet.

Please keep us updated on what happens.

That depends on how the warranty is written though. If they have repairs written into the warranty, you wouldn't have much choice, but you'd also be getting exactly what you signed up for.

I'm not saying they should have replaced it without looking at it though. There was a service manager there that looked at it when he first brought it in. The fact that they didn't do anything after he looked at it, is what bothers me. When I worked in the service industry, I saw this kind of crap happen, and unless there was an honest person in the chain of custody, it didn't end well for the customers most of the time.

Now if this were a hole, or something else that could possibly be caused by abuse, then I can see them balking. But it's obvious to me just from those photos that it couldn't have been.

I agree give the process time to happen. That's only fair to the Manufacturer. It's easy to jump to conclusions so it doesn't hurt to have a backup plan but you must give Bass Pro and the manufacturer time to assess the situation and make a reasonable offer to replace or repair.

I'm interested as to what model Tahoe it is and what engine is in it. I am thinking about buying a Q-6 with a 350 Mag, but I may look elsewere now.

No offense to people who own them, but I'd stay away from that brand, we looked at them at the Nassau Cty boat show, and the floor felt real flexy to me, my old (rebuilt!) 88 Four Winns has a much more solid structure than the ones we looked at! Seems like its built to a price point, and in fact if you price out some of their models on the website, they are thousands cheaper than some competing brands, but I could feel it as soon as I stepped on board--the floor flexing and moving did not give me a real good feeling!

Re: Stringer Pushing through bottom of Boat?

Yup I agree with just about everyone here. I would be on the phone a couple of times a day with someone wanting to know what is going on. I would want to know what the situation was each day, as far as what they were doing to resolve this each step of the way. And i agree with everyone else i dont see how you would not get a new hull at least. I would not imagine that they would want to repair it. And i would take lots of pics too and if for some reason they are not taking care of you make sure that they know that those pictures that you have are going to hurt their business in some way. But like someone above said its to early to start making threats though. Just see what they say, but this should be a pretty easy decioion though. Thats why i would want to know what was going on each day. Good luck with this one!

It a 2006 Q6 Ski and Fish, V6 4.3L carb. Tax and everything it cost shy of $26K.
I called today around 3 P.M. and they said it is next to come into the shop.
Bass Pro (in Vegas) only has two bays to do any work on the boats so there is always a back-log. I'll let everyone know what the verdict is once I find out. Later,

I would monitor every step like a hawk. Take pictures and not give them any way to try and hide anything. You paid the big bucks you deserve the BIG BUCK repair making it 100% LIKE NEW..........be prepared for bear and dont give in an inch.........my 2 cents worth

... hmm I did not feel that at the AZ boat show, it showed pretty good for a mid line boat. i understand 4 winns to be a couple rungs up so can you compare them.

Baine - wish you luck man. Hope it turns out well. Lake Mead is a great place!

Re: Stringer Pushing through bottom of Boat?

And the verdict is................ They are going to take out the fuel tank (full of gas-because I was going boating "bye 40 gals"). I don't know the extent of work that takes but it seems the boat is built around the tank. Anyway, They think the tank may have come loose and caused the damage. So, do you think they could fiberglass it back together if the gas tank is secure?
This is "boat show" weekend at Bass Pro so I don't imagine I'll get a response until next week or whenever they can dis-assemble the insides of my "stress reliever".
