Re: Stringer Pushing through bottom of Boat?

Yep, It's kind of easy to recognize the boat. I have my name on the back. It is running great. Developed a few fiberglass cracks inside but all boats do that.
I called to see where my trolling motor is. BPS said they'll call the factory again. I know the folks fishing at Willow Beach on Friday would have rather seen a trolling motor than me starting the engine every few minutes. (Took my daughter and her freind, Ended up with 7 nice stocked trout). I also asked about a replacement Keel guard and Bow scuff protector. Service manager said he'd ask someone.
Other than that I'm sure glad that all happened in the winter/spring time!!!

Any word if they got you a replacement Keel Guard?

No keel guard, No Bow Scuff protector, and still no trolling motor! Seems every week "it's on it's way from the factory for sure". I hope I saved other people the aggrevation of dealing with Bass Pro.

On a good note the boat is running great. But they haven't improved service at all.

baineyg I might get banned for this coment but I believe you are responsible for not having your property returned. You have sat back and let BP walk all over you, you have posted yourself that you were not wanting to get tough with them because you were not sure of how things would work after getting tough. I can understand your reluctance to that but
Bud it's not working for you. Who knows maybe your stuff might be sitting on one of BP staff's boat.
Who am I kidding no employe from the boat manufacturing company would be stupid enough to by a boat he knows how it was built.

Go to BP and start shouting either you walk out with what is rightly yours or they better get some new stuff of the selfs because enough is enough.

baineyg you are the customer every bad outfit wants from a customer, a good guy that pays the price asked but is willing to accept way less than advertized or implied.
Nice guys very seldom end up first.

You have far more patience than I have, I'd have been going ballistic over the missing items, let alone the whole situation. It's not like they lost or failed to return some ten cent item, your talking a few hundred or more dollars here.
They admitted fault when they covered the repair, they are liable for the items now not returned.
You have been going through this for over 5 months now, they have had more than adequate time to take care of it. Summer is almost over, and you've basically been inconvenienced for an entire season now.
They are most likely hoping you will just go away.

After reading this saga, the chances of me ever dealing with that place would be nil. I'm not sure though it's all of Bass Pro, it sounds like a lot of your problems now are with your local dealer.
A dealer that had any concern for it's reputation or customer satisfaction would have made good on those items before the boat was even returned to you.

I do have some concerns as to how they left off the trolling motor after the repair, I'd be wondering if it wasn't scalped from your boat before it was returned to the factory by an employee somewhere along the line or by the dealer thinking the boat would just be replaced in whole.

I'm not sure if those keel guards are reusable, so I'm guessing that a new one is the only choice there. If they don't have your trolling motor by now, my guess is that it's gone. I'd be insisting on a new one being installed asap, why should you wait any longer or be inconvenienced running without one because of their neglect to make sure the boat was 'As delivered' when it was returned to you.

No keel guard, No Bow Scuff protector, and still no trolling motor!

If memory servers me right,,, don't they have a whole friggin store full of those items.

I really don't understand why BPS does not step up and get these problems resolved. It's not like they are going to scrape the old Keel Guard and Scuff Buster off the old boat, they have to give you a new one and then install it, it's a one shot deal on those.

Here's and idea, load up a nice (expensive) trolling motor and Keel Guard into a shopping cart, walk up to the customer service desk in the front of the store and ask to speak to the store manager AND marine manager... I have all the items missing from my boat, how are we going to resolve my problems. Do I have to buy these items AGAIN?

Kind of sucks being in your position, I have never liked it, but there are ways to be sincere and calm, while letting them know that you are not stepping foot out of their business until your problems are resolved. If they say "it's on it's way from the factory", let them know that answer was acceptable 2 months ago, even a month ago, but that answer is no longer acceptable and they need to resolve your problems.

Hope it all works out for you,
Dan

I love it, that's great. Pull this in front of a lot of people and let them listen.
Ask for the manager after it is all rung up.

Don't forget to tell the guy behind you that this register is going to be busy for a while.

I could see myself doing that, good idea!
A few upgrades would also be in order for all your troubles too as far as I am concerned.

I am definately thinking parts in hand, loud, obnoxious and at the counter on a busy day is how I would handle it at this point. If the manager on duty can't or won't handle it. Have him call the general store manager at home. That is after all what THE manager gets paid for and paid well I'm sure. Good luck and I hope you get the last of this saga resolved sooner rather than later.

P.S. OOPS!! Forgot to say that I am glad that you got your boat back. Followed this with a lot of interest and it just reinforces my desire to take a older stronger boat strip it and rebuild it. Same is true for cars and trucks to me as well. I am slowly working on my Ram as I learn more about FI.

Wow, I guess I lost track of this.

What a total load of crap. I can't believe they'd continue to jerk you around after all the interest this thread has received.

Someone said "this forum is frequented by boat owners, not shoppers."

I don't know about you guys, but the "boat owners" I know, were, some currently are, and most will again be "boat shoppers".

And how many first-time "boat buyers" are going to ask "boat owners" for advice before they purchase?

I wouldn't buy a water noodle from any of the businesses involved, after reading this thread, let alone purchase a boat from them!

Re: Stringer Pushing through bottom of Boat?

I am not a major buyer from this corporation, but I “was” a customer of the Brands they market.

Not only will I no longer purchase from them, neither will any of my friends, or anyone in my immediate, or extended family.

This story has seemed to have spread like a California wild fire through Texas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas. Add to these states Florida, Alaska, Colorado, Missouri and Arizona to get a feeling of the power of a family network. I works in both directions, we share good and bad experiences. :D

I said from the very beginning this corporation could choose it's path.

They did, screw the customer.

Re: Stringer Pushing through bottom of Boat?

I got my trolling motor back! Well not mine, The factory sent a new one. After giving it to me BPS said all is finally done. I said "we have one more thing". We opened the box to make sure the mount was there to put on the boat and to no big suprise it wasn't there.
The service manager could tell I wasn't in the mood for more jerking around. He immediately searched the site and found the mount. The bracket attaching to the boat wasn't attached to the part that extends the motor to the water but luckily I had a few bolts laying around so I pieced it together. It is now complete! Minus the release rope, but I'll configure some type of string so I'm not using a screwdriver on the water.
With this episode finally behind me,my boat running, and all attachments returned I seriously hope all I have to post from now on is big fish pictures!!!

Thanks again to all who have givin advice and helped me through this...

I would never want to disagree with you but that does not seem fair after all that has been done and what has not been done.

No, They haven't given me as much as a key ring for my troubles.
I spent yesterday (I'm on leave) assembling the trolling motor mount they gave me. At the end they didn't give me the "decket" which holds the trolling motor in stowed position. I called and low and behold my deck mount has arrived from the factory. So today I'll make the 25 mile drive and get it and hopefully have all this boat back together.

Re: Stringer Pushing through bottom of Boat?

FYI....

I was reading boat reviews on the boatus forum and came across a post about Tahoe boats. Seems a member there had a broken stringer pushing though their hull too. Ended up with Tahoe promising a new 2008 to replace the damaged boat.

Read about it here:

http://my.boatus.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=55474&PN=2

I know this is another boat forum and might go against some iboat policy, but I felt it is too important to not let members know that more than one Tahoe had broken stringers pushing through the hull. And the lack of response from Tahoe.

Re: Stringer Pushing through bottom of Boat?

If I read that other forum thread correctly that was baineyg's thread on another site. The fellow that got the new boat had a Larson and that was what they did for him, not Tahoe.
