Stringers, Crossbraces, Etc.

Hi All,<br /><br />Weather's warming up, almost time to rip into the ol' boat...<br /><br />I'll be installing a floor, completely from scratch in my '61 Starcraft Runabout. Does anyone have a tried & true method for making up a pattern that follows the contour of the hull?<br /><br />I really don't want to have to do the old trial and error thing with cardboard. Just looking for any ideas/methods anyone else has used to come up with an easier way to do it.<br /><br />Thanks!<br />Rick K

Run a String Line, where you want the Tops of the stringers.....<br />Then Measure down from It, at 4" intervals......<br />This Should give you a Pattern, <br />That is Very Close.......

Or you could scribe the shape of the inside hull on a piece of wood or cardboard using a set of dividers or a drafting compass.

Put saran wrap in the stringer hull( after digging the old wood out) Fill with spray expanding foam, shape top and remove. You then have an exact pattern that is easily removed.

I'm Just Guessing,<br />But I Think a 1961 Starcraft is an Aluminum Boat....<br /><br />And, If this is So,<br />I Think Starcraft was using Aluminum Stringers then......
