There is an iboats get-together for aluminum Starcraft owners this June at Lake Anna, Va. I'm curious if anyone has experience fishing for landlocked Striper, largemouth bass or walleye on this huge body of water?

I've mostly trolled for salmon, trout and walleye in the great lakes so this will be new to me:)

Any advice, stories or tips are appreciated:D

Re: Striper fishing in Lake Anna, Va?

Lake Anna is a man made reservoir that was built as a cooling pond for the North Anna Nuclear power plant. Because of this water temps stay warm all year round it's not the best of habitat for fish that like cooler water temps. Rumors of catching glowing fish from time to time as well. :D

Great largemouth fishing. Lake can get very crowded with Bass tournaments in the summer.

So-so Striper fishing. Not really good Striper habitat do to high water temps in the summer. Population maintained by stocking.

Walleye fishing is pretty near non-existent anymore. The walleye population was maintained by stocking. The stocking has since been discontinued do to poor survival rates from lack of favorable habitat.

In June, Striper fishing is about 200 times better @ 60 miles East of the there.;)

I'm interested in finding out what kinds of bait are used. Jimbc knows a guide in the area that he is going to get some info from and I believe he said trolling with live bait is the way to go.

It sounds like the walleye are pretty scarce, I would love to catch some big bass though, so I will be fishing in the mornings and tubing in the afternoons:D

Dingbat have you fished Lake Anna or do you stay on the coast?

I've fished down there a couple of times in the early Spring before the water temps get too high. Lots of largemouth bass.

The issue with Lake Anna are the water temps. Water temps right now are in the mid 50's. By the time you guys get there the water temps could be well into the 80's.

Here is a good write up by a local guide

I was hoping to be responsible for keeping the beer cold and have someone else find the fish...but I can try to do both:D

Sounds like we should be able to get some nice largemouth and striper without too much trouble. We can always watch other folks that are catching fish and do what they're doing too;)

Jim is supposed to have some good info for us as well.
