Stripped hole in head.

in one of my motors one of the head bolts had to be drilled and tapped out. The same bolt seems to have lost it threads due to vibrations.
I do not think i have enough room to drill it out more for a helicoil. I have been told that some people have used JB weld to fix this type of issue. I was going to put some jb weld in the hole and drill and tap it out again. Does anyone have any other suggestions that might work better?

It seems that JB weld softens at 600 degrees. Looks like i need another plan.

I do not know if JBWeld will fix your issue. I doub't it, however, the block should not get to be 600 degrees where that bolt is.

Can you tap the hole for the next larger bolt? You would need to drill the hole to the proper size, but it should only be 1/16" oversize. Can you use a through bolt? Sometimes there is clearance and nothing in the way. Ditto on using a longer bolt and making new threads further down the hole.

I was considering using somthing like a power stud or an anchor bolt. That way it would fasten with a nut rather then a bolt.

A stud is a good idea, however, you still need good threads to hold the stud.
