Hi folks, I'm new hear and was hoping I might get some advise. I have a 1987 Force 85hp outboard and it has a stripped lower unit drain plug. This is the small hex key drain plug in the front lower end of the gear housing, there are also a vent plug and a fill plug on the upper side of the lower unit.
Does anyone have any idea's or advise as to how to remove it without dropping the lower unit. Do i dare try to use an eze out to remove it while it is assembled. Thank you for any wisdom you will share.

BE VERY CAREFUL!!! That may not be a drain plug. Look under your lower unit for another drain plug.

Yep, easy out is the next try. Be sure you have a good grip and dig in.

You can try hammering in a Torx bit and using that as an easy out. Careful, if the plug is real tight, you may snap the bit.

Drain the oil through the 4 bolts behind the prop and anode--you only need to remove one or two of the bottom ones--THEN heat the case around the plug to hopefully expand the aluminum and make drain plug removal easier
