Stripped out Heli-coil?

Screwed up a stripped out aluminum exhaust manifold a couple of years back. See this thread (http://forums.iboats.com/forum/engi...utdrives/594065-stripped-out-my-thread-repair) Anyway, started leaking again, changed the gasket again, and noticed that my new bolt wouldn't torque down. Not leaking yet, but it will, so I need to be prepared to fix. What is the likely failure point of a helicoil insert? I'm guessing that the threads I tapped in the aluminum have stripped, and the insert is just spinning freely. If this is the case, I'm thinking that the insert will pull out fairly easily (maybe thread a bolt part way in, and make a puller out of it), at which point I can retap with the next larger/correct size insert. Any other ideas?

What about those fancy Time serts. I think they really hold. I did one in my neighbors aluminum pan Yamaha cycle a couple of years ago and he changes the oil regularly still. I'd say fix it before it leaks and sends you to hydrolock. I'd look for something that taps and epoxy bonds too.
