Re: 87 Sunbird

The real splurge was the seats->$450. Decided on 2 back to backs, and 2 fold down for the engine cover(permanently mounted). Ordered Wise Economy, and they were out of stock, so they sent me premium for the same price! Some say they're cheap, but I spent 4 hours on them on the water and they are fine. Again, this is an '87 boat, on a budget. Fini7.jpgFini11.jpg I have a high speed buffer, so used Turtlewax rubbing cmpd then turtle wax on the badly waterstained hull. Orig port.jpg I think it does as well as Meguires. Fini2.jpg It's really all about the buffer for me. I also read in the service manual about the importance of a smooth hull, esp the rear 5 feet or so. Sure enough, there was a rough, fiberglass patch that protruded 1/2" or so.Hullpatch.jpg Sanded with high speed buffer, and epoxy paint. Smooth as silk now.

As for the bow seating, got 5/8" treated plywood, cut, sanded, and painted with exterior paint. Then had a old couch, cut the foam and covered with coordinated vinyl from the fabric store, and stapled with SS staplegun. They're not perfect, but the bikinis say they are thick and comfortable.Maiden voyage 018.jpgMaiden voyage 010.jpg Thanks to everyone for your support! Fini2.jpgFinideleted.jpgFinideleted2.jpg
