Stuck in Gear.. Any idea's

Had a mishap today.... forgot the painter for the tender and got it wrapped around the duo prop...what a dummy...

Any way, now I have forward gear only and accelaration. No neutral and when I engage reverse the boat accelarates forward.

To stop the boat I have to off the the ignition...

Any idea's on what needs to be fixed.

What kind of boat/engine are we talking about here? Year, model, make etc...

My Guess is, the cable has become broken/ disconnected/ stretched...
Or,..The Outdrive is broken/ jambed/ needs to be pulled....

It's taken a while, but a plastic clip holding the cable in the control box was broken..
