Glad I came to this forum now I don't feel so stupid. Finally got my old boat running good, so I went to the far side of the lake down an arm of lake not seen from the rest of the lake. pulled up to beach the boat and looked back and saw a mud trail in water. thought not bad so I dropped the anchor. got my poles rigged up and fished for awhile. so I think it is time to go to another place. tried to use trolling motor but lower unit was stuck in the mud. no electric tilt or trim. well got the boat turned around and thought I could just power out of mud, that didn't work because anchor was still down, and now line was across prop and hung up. could not push free using paddle. I was finally able to unhook anchor by moving line to the other side. I was still stuck. I wasn't sure if I was going to have a heart attack by jumping out in the mud and getting my feet and legs stuck in the mud or trying to horse the motor up from the back deck. Kinda hard because latch has to be held to be released while lifting motor with other arm. I was able to do this finally. One final push with paddle and trolling motor going and I was free. I hope I remember to lift the anchor from now on, because I think this was my main problem to begin with. Can't wait to get back on water and have more fun!
