Stuck jack plate

Have new used boat in driveway with a frozen jack plate.Pump works great. Problem is nylon sliders are frozen cause former owner kept jack plate in raised position and never moved it. Have taken it apart and really beat on it to no avail even acid washed it.Put it in vice and using plenty of force with 5lb hammer. Will not move. It is an Atlas brand jack plate. What do I do next? I have never heard of this happening.

A jack plate is kind a generic, uncomplicated item. It sounds as if there has been some bending in the parts.

Have you considered junking your old jack plate? Go to EBayMotors.com to find adjustable jack plates for $175-250. Hydraulic jack plates are much more expensive, but they're also very, very nice.

Everything is straight at best we can tell. Part of jack plate always in water because boat sat so low in water in rear because of a total of 7 inches of set back with 90hp Johnson. Boat will now be a trailer boat and not kept at a dock. Jack plate was not protected with any thing by po. lots of barnacles. Thats what caused slider tubes to become stuck.

Sand Piper, Would you like to sell the jammed jack plate setup? I'd love to have one but can't afford a new one, and I'm pretty handy with tools...
