stuck tach

I just picked up a new 7,000 rpm omc tach. When I took it out of the box I noticed it was stuck on<br />7,000 rpm. When I install this thing will it go<br />back to the proper setting or do I have a bad tach? Is there anything I can do to reset it?

just try hooking it up.. <br /><br />mine sits at around 2000rpm if there is no power to it.. (works fine )<br /><br />it may be that once hooked up, it'll do the same..<br /><br />rgds<br /><br />Frnak
