Stuck Valve

Kenimpzoom came by the marina this morning and we applied the box end method to the valves. First valve, intake, free as a bird. Next valve, exhaust, stuck. Applied PB Blaster, waited awhile, pounded on the valve, nothing. Soaked the valve again and left for the day. Will return again tomorrow, pound a little but inclined to take the head off. Just feel I have come too far not to take the head off and have a look. Any thoughts?

Try it again tomorrow. If it frees up and the engine runs OK, you just saved yourself a great deal of work.

Yea, djohns19 my thought is having to put that intake back on with all of it’s little attributes then valve cover and then that exhaust manifold that I don’ t even want to talk about just to find out I might not have gone far enough the first time. All that remains on that side of the engine is the head.

Scamper.. <br /><br />Use a slide puller to pull it back up again.<br /><br />Put the claws of the slide puller just under the retainer and slide the hammer puller up lightly, as in tap tap tap.. and the valve will come UP.<br /><br />Once you get it up again squirt it to death with PB Blaster and use the box end wrench on it to push it back down..<br /><br />Repeat this process till the valve moves all the way down and back up freely.<br /><br />If everytime you put it down it wants to stay there and you have to use the slide hammer puller to get it to come up, forget it.<br /><br />Yank the head cuz the valve is BENT, and needs replacement.<br /><br />At that point of the game, just bring the head to the machine shop and have em check it for cracks, pressure test it and SHAVE IT.<br /><br />If you remember I just went thru the same process with GM 350 and after using the slide hammer puller and PB BLaster I managed to free up 2 valves over a 3 day period.<br /><br />The engine I speak of runs just perfect today.<br /><br />The only differnece being is that RUST doesn't sound like it contributed to your valves sticking, which tells me that valve may be BENT rather than just stuck a little bit.<br /><br />Sorry to tell ya that, but I too do not want to see you toss it all back together to only have to rip it down again.<br /><br />Hope this helps you out.
