Bear with me.About a year ago I sold all my Extra outboards.Figured the 3 that remained were plenty. Then last fall I bought a nice reasonably low hours 55 Gale Bucaneer 5hp.Last week a 53-54 Champion Voyager,Today, wife and I were going down the street in our GEM electric car There was a guy in the street with a shopping cart full of
scrap, including a bike on top. Get this; the wife says look there's an outboard in a plastic bag on the bottom shelf.Long story short I picked up a
comeplete Johnson TD15 (circa 41) for $15.Nice prop ,excellent lower cowl, fairly straight tank, 60psi compression, intact bakelite gas cap.
Any one know what the oval head screw in the lower unit leg does (not the vent)it appears it should go all the way through the leg. I have a TD owners manual but no picture or mention of this screw.

You Scored! That's a good deal. You may want to ask on the AOMCI Ask-A-Member page. I have 3 TD20's. One appears to have a replacement TD15 powerhead which I'm guessing was an off the shelf item (no serial number).

Here they are:

Good Luck!
