A man is washing the windows in his house. He cleans the inside of the windows in a horizontial movement (back and forth). He cleans the outside of the windows in a vertical movement (up and down), why?<br /><br />JB: Give someone else a chance before you reply

I don't know neither cause when I do windows, I do them with a squeegee and ammonia and no streaks.

Allright howabout this?<br />I am going to prove that .999 repeating actually equals 1<br />lets say that .99 equals X<br />so, 10X=9.99<br />subtract 1x from both sides<br />and you get 9X=9.00<br />divide by 9 and..<br /> X=1<br />hows it work?<br />Craig

Won't work because it can't be done that way. you can not take 1x from 9.99 because it is 9.99 does not have a variable. You either have to plug in the variable in order to solve what you suggest. First you have to go 10(.99)=9.99 or 9.99=9.99 you can then subtract .99 from both sides w/o changing anything because at this point you have one side equal to the other and your statement is true. If as you suggest you have 10x=9.99 and you subtract 1x you end up with 9x=9.99-1x As well x would not be equal to .99 if you solved your original problem of 10x=9.99 because if you divide both sides by 10 you get x=.999 What would happen to make x=.99 is have 10x=9.9 divide both sides by 10 and then you have x=.99 In case anyone is still reading we still don't have anything to do with the original .9999 repeating in any of these math problems. I am sure given the time and energy to spare I could come up with a problem to make x=.999 repeating but why would I want to?
