Turn key to on and gauges go on turn to start and it does nothing. Jump starter with screwdriver and it turns over and starts and runs fine. Ok so I checked fuse and than pulled dash and on back of key switch it has a yellow wire with red stripe that gets power when key turned to start. Now looking at starter the solenoid has same yellow and red wire. Testing it on starter it has no power when key is turned. So somewhere in between the wire is broken? Any idea where a common issue might be. Not exactly an easy wire to test, mostly behind fiberglass. Is it a single wire or is there a junction in there somewhere?

Going out this weekend if I have to start it with a screwdriver!

Found a diagram and there is a relay and a round connector inline with this wire. I pulled apart round connector and its clean but there is still no signal going to relay. In picture I found there is a another connector.......where is it? Whats it look like? Just a junction?

That is a lugged connection - if was not properly sealed could now be corroded....

I would start at the key switch and work my way back, connectors don't usually just come apart. I'd also make sure there is supply (Bat+) at the key switch, it may use different circuits for starting and for gauges, just a thought.

from the key switch, thru the control box, to the slave solenoid, to the main starter solenoid.locate the slave and start from that point.

Well there IS power when on key switch terminal when key is turned. If I unplug the bug round connector in engine compartment there is NOT power on yellow/r wire there. If I jumper a wire from key switch to relay(slave solenoid) it works fine. Its got to be somewhere behind the fiberglass that it has broken. Strange...... Just wish I know where this "lugged" connection was because I bet problem is there.

aside from the cannon engine plug there may be another under the dash to connect the dash panel to.

It's probably a problem with your neutral safety switch. Is the stick in the straight up position before you put it into the high idle start position? Try moving the throttle lever to a few spots and see where or if it cranks.
It's a switch that only allows current when in neutral, and it's inside or behind the engine controller. On mine I can lay on the floor and get a test probe to it behind the gunwale.

I did not even think of that. You say this switch is in the controls? I thought it was on the cable linkage on top of the motor?

You sir are correct. I cant reach the back of the box but I found the wires going in and out and sure enough its not connecting. Sounds like a job for a butt splice and fishing is on for the weekend!

He'll be back next Monday: "I started my boat in drive at full throttle and ended up on the beach in some campers fire pit and burned the hull slightly and got sand in my lower unit. How do I get the sand out of the lower that somehow forced it's way into the intake and into the oil and whats the best way to fix a small hole about 36" x 42" burned into the hull?"

Dude that neutral safety is there for a reason. Key word here is "safety"
