Re: Stupid drain plug question

"if you had too many beers before launching"

Now there's a sobering thought...

Start with the drive to the ramp trailering the boat and end with the kids on the tube in the crowded lake....

hahaha I got to call them like I see them I myself dont drink, but its the only way I can explane how all those people are acting everytime I use to take my boat to the ramp, I bought a home on the water a few months back so no more ramps for me, well when I go to the keys to dive I have to use the ramp

On mine, the drain holes between compartments weren't completely down to the surface allowing about an inch of water to remain. Just reamed them down and sealed w/4200. +1 on the broken seal at the plug. Now your commited to removal.

Re: Stupid drain plug question

Update:

First off, raising the bow w/ the trailer crank worked wonders and a lot of water in the ski locker ran out of the drain plug hole (more on that later). I feel stupid for not thinking of this simple action.

Couldn't remove plug so took out old garboard and got a new one. Got some 5200 and put in on the garboard flange and also on the screws and made a nice seal. On the inside of transom, I also put 5200 on screws and the surrounding area. Looks great and hopefully this will dry quickly. Also got a spare plug just in case and keep it now w/ my keys.

Thanks

Good job!

3M 5200 takes up to 7 days to fully cure...so just be patient and wait until you use the plug.

Like we all have pointed out, the plug is a pipe thread and doesn't need to be as tight as your old one was. What little water might seep past the threads is a million times less concern than the water that might get past your sealant, if you tighten to the point of moving the flange again!

Happy boating!
