Stupid question

I've noticed over the last couple of years that some of the larger boats I've seen at dock have a constant flow of water being pumped out. Almost like a bilge pump. There couldn't be that much water in these boats.

It's the water flow from the A/C unit. They are water cooled and require that raw water be pulled in from the lake or river and flow through the condensing unit and discharged overboard.

If you watch long enough, the water will stop when the A/C cycles off.

great question and answer. We had the same discusion at the coast this weekend. I was not aware of this either. Now I am.
