Stupid Question

Well I have to ask the question and think it is stupid, is pushing the throttle forward putting my outdrive into forward gear? I just want to make sure that it is and I am not screwing things up. It seems logical that it would be forward gear but I know that sometimes things are not as they should seem to be. It is a Mercruiser 120 with a 120 engine in a 67 Islander. Thanks

Re: Stupid Question

Yes. However, some throttle controllers have a button on the handle that if you push it, allows you to throttle the motor without putting it in gear.

Re: Stupid Question

mine has a neutral switch not on the handle but on the center of the control where the handle pivots.
Pull out to start so it will not go in gear and you can rev it up.
