Stupid thing to do!

Gentlemen,

I removed my engine from the boat and had it balanced on the floor, unfortunately after 36 hours of balancing, the thing fell over (I should have put some supports to rpevent this, but didn't!) and ended up upside down leaking oil on the floor. I heard it fall over and quickly stood it up, but it has broken all the automatic choke assembly on the carb. The engine is a 4.3L Mercruiser 1991 engine, and the carb is a 2 barrel.. Can anyone suggest either a good place to buy a replacement carb, or a good scrap yard where I can get one (I would prefer to keep my carb (as it worked just fine) and salvage the broken parts of a good carb and fit to mine (Unless I just replace the entire carb with a new one!). This was one expense that I had not budgeted for!!

Thanks for advise/suggestions.

I'd go look at the local junkyard, I doubt if there is anything marine about the choke.....;)

Call Twin City Outboard. While they have outboard in their name they also have sterndrive stuff. they specialize in used parts and ship all over the place..

You can find them on the web, or here is the number.. 952-496-1951

Easiest way is to look at the idle mixture screws.
Mercarb has 1, Rochester has 2
Rest of it LOOK about the same, but they are different and parts aren't interchangable.

Many thanks guys, the pictures of the mercarb look EXACTLY like mine!! I guess that means I have a mercarb!!
I will still look at getting parts first, but failing that $250 sounds very reasonable for a replacement carb.
Many thanks for all the suggestions, you have given me several options..

Thanks Wavenbye, I can now see that the carb castings have not broken, but the tiny screws that held the automatic choke onto the carb body. I will see if I can drill out the broken parts, then I might get away with a really cheap repair (just some new screws!!).
