Stutter and stall

Mercury 90 fourstroke.....When I fully open the throttle from rest the Merc coughs and stutters and dies. Also when slowly accelerating from rest the engine hesitates upto about 2000rpm. Re-starting is always easy and high speed cruising is fine also.<br /><br />Whats the matter Doc?<br /><br />Andy

sounds like the accelerator pump is bad or plugged

Hi Bill, do you know if there's a pump on each carb (like a car) or a seperate pump connected to the throttle linkage?

Don't know I have a 15 hp merc 4 stroke with a single carb and a single accelerator pump, my pump is going bad too

same thing on my 01 40hp 4 stroke, i checked and<br />gas squirts into the carbs when i twist the throttle, seems like accell pumps are ok?<br />any other ideas??
