Hey all,
5.0 GXI-D with reman block in 2016. Runs good but noticed that at cold startup the motor cuts out right away. Restarts with no issue (usually only one time) and idles fine. When it’s cold, if I advance the throttle it sputters and sounds like it’s gonna stall unless I set the throttle back to nuetral. Once it’s warmed up, no issues.
Just let it warm up more or is there something else I should be looking at ?

Furthur, my carb'd 5.7 liter is similar - I just let it warm up. Probably could do some carb work, but that condition has not worsened over the years and there's always something more pressing

Mine is fuel injected. Wondering maybe it’s injector related....

plug in Rinda and see what the computer sees
could be IAC is stuck or not operating
could be temp sensor is a bit wonky

either way, you will need to plug in to properly diagnose what is going on.

Where do I get one of those? Sounds expensive...

Resurrecting my old thread... I’ve been researching and trying to figure out this issue that has plagued my boat since the beginning of last season. I came across a thread on another forum where someone had a very similar issue and found that the oil filter they had installed didn’t have an anti drain back valve so they replaced the filter with one that had this valve and it solved the issue. So, I looked into the filter I use which is a wix and low and behold it didn’t have an anti drain back valve. Purchased and installed a new filter with the valve and voila... seems the issue is resolved. Still not clear on how or why this would cause a stall on a cold start with the filter installed the way it is... but is what it is...I guess.
