Submerged Pine Slab; What Should I Do With It?

I returned Tuesday night from a paddling trip in the Missouri Ozarks. One of the rivers I floated was the Big Piney, which in the nineteenth century had several sawmills along its banks. The operators would cut and mill the abundant pine then raft it down river to St. Louis. As you might imagine there are submerged slabs all over the river bed, so I brought one home for giggles. Now I don't know what I should do with it. Thoughts?

Either make a table or tooth picks.

What size is it? A pic maybe?

Hopefully it is a piece of old growth, and clear, no knots in it.

It will depend a lot on where in the x-section of the log the slab was cut.
Some of that first growth stuff is amazing quality.

If you can submerge it again until you figure out what you will do....that might be best.
If it is radial-sawn, it may turn into a large trough as it dries. :)
You could stabilise it with PEG.
If it was quarter-sawn, it would be inherently more stable.
We are in an area that was a lumber mecca....three rivers leading from some really fine pine forests. There are several businesses that make a good $$$$ salvaging the sunken logs that litter the river bottoms and cut them into planks.

Without pics it's just another ol' pine slab in the river story and I've heard a million of them.;)

Incoop could be on the Ax Men, Arkansas division, joining Shelby "Swamp Man" Stanga. :joyous: Coop just can't drive a big tin jet boat. :D
