Substitute/replace starter solenoid & junction box ? - Big Twin

I acquired another Big Twin 40 yesterday. This one is a 40352 (electric start) and seems to run and idle OK.

However, the guy would not part with the controls, although I never saw them so I don't even know if they were original. I wasn't aware that the system includes a starter solenoid in a junction box.

Has anyone developed a wiring diagram for how to rebuild this out of other (new and/or non-OMC) parts? I'm aware that the solenoid is similar to an automotive one but that it also has some kind of safety switch. This motor doesn't have a generator but I'm going to keep my eyes open for a chance to add one in the future.

As always, if I'm asking the wrong questions, set me on the straight and narrow. Thanks!

The junction box components are shown in the parts catalog for the motor; you can see that online here: http://www.marineengine.com/parts/johnson-evinrude-parts.php

The whole junction box assembly is part # 0379286 and is available through J/E parts dealers.

You may find a complete used unit at one of the salvage yards:
