Sudden oil sheen in slip?!

I had a high r.p.m. situation caused by using an improper prop on my 88 merc 260 / alpha 1. Replaced the prop from a 15" to 19" pitch. Noticed this morning a thin sheen of oil or some petroleum product on the water in the slip. This thing is a pain to trailer. Is this something a worry wart should be concerned about? I checked the prop in neutral ( key out ) for unusual sounds or feels and it seems fine. When running and in neutral, I noticed a few very tiny new oil slicks appearing.

are you sure you used the correct thrust washer in front of the prop?

could be a prop seal, outdrive seal,a dead cylinder, trim cylinder, trim tab cylinder/line.

Even though it's a pain to trailer, it better to pull it out and check things out than to let the water destroy a lot of very expensive parts.

Have you checked/refilled the outdrive gear oil recently and lost or broken the fill plug screw seal?
