Without goals there is nothing to achieve......so in about four to five years I would like to slow down a bit and maybe live on a boat but for sure live within walking distance of water.
I want it to be warm year round and be able to swim 80% of the time I like sand and sun boats and water......

Where ???

Hawaii is first thought but kind of far for family to come visit.....then there is the Caribbean but, again distance and possibly foreign country......would like to stay Stateside but,,,,,where.......I really like the Ocean and waves crashing....but, I could settle for lake with Clear Water.......

So if you were me where would you plan to move to ?

If I were you I wouldn't move. A lakeshore in N.Central Texas is about as good as it gets. Instead of moving I would spend a month or so on Lake Of The Woods, MN in the Summer and a month or so in Waialua, Hawaii (northshore of Oahu) in the winter.

Spend a Winter season up here in VT and you will be moving back to TX in a heartbeat. We do not get the hurricanes or tornadoes but COLD we get for about 7 months a year.......... however..... ;) we get a really comfortable Summer! :D

eh, you can get a lake house on lake michigan that has a square footage of your garage for about 3 mil. then just add the 500-1000 yards of sand that goes straight down, with dead fishys at the water line, sounds like heav... wait nevermind who would want to live there...

my dream house was finnished last year a wooping 22,000 square foot house with 3 bed rooms add a 6,200 square foot guest house and a 700 square foot pool. i think there summer tax bill was a little over 120,000 for last summer and thats not homestead. ownd by **** and betsy devos

South florida is nice. You got the gulf or carribean or atlantic depending on where you go and the intercoastal waterway is allot of fun.

Never been there, but I hear the Florida Keys are nice. Just may get a little breezy every now and then....

Have to agree with JB.
N or NE TX for the winter.
Northern MN or Ashland WI for the summer.

Or where my cousin lives, Seaside Oregon.

I'm surprised more members aren't thinking outside of North America?
I think I would get a few simple locations going rather than just one. Maybe a nice place (apartment?) in the South of France or Italy (Tuscany).
Maybe something near the equator....something reasonably safe or stable?
These locations would take care of the november through february months.:D
Then I'd be back here in the Northwest to re-charge, take in some oxygen and scenery and lifestyle.;)
All Good

It sounds like you want to stay in the 48 yo be close enough to family. In which case I vote San Diego. Great weather year round. Just watch out for the earthquakes and fires.

Living on your boat is not as uncommon as you may think . Every year we tons of people from all over the west coast that live on there boats. In the summer they float north and in the winter float south. Most of these people seem very at peace with them selves,

Well the winters are a bit harsh, but the summers are great, so I will stick to the thousands of lakes I have access to within a hundred miles of where I currently live, Montana, and I have one of the largest high mountain fresh water lakes available to me close by..so for me after living in Hawaii, and various other exotic destinations around the world, I will stick to the Rockies in Montana!
