My 19 ft. I/O Is having a problem with porpoising at about 30mph..Once it starts i have to slow way down to regain an even ride.
I have installed a stingray hydrofoil,it seemed to help get the boat on plane much better but the problem was not resolved...
Anyone have any ideas what else i can try?
Also since installing the stingray the boat seems to list a little to the starboard side and the prop wash behind the boat looks off center..

Re: Suggestions?-porpoising

My suggestion is that you need to lose the hydrofoil and add some type of trim tabs. Smart Tabs solve this issue and offer some other benefits as well. Adjustable trim tabs offer similar benefits with the ability to correct for list (side to side) as an added benefit. I will never own another v-hull without one or the other. Do a search of this section for Smart Tabs and trim tabs . . . ;)

Is this a new problem?
While I like hydro foils as a last resort, smart tabs are a much better choice.I would go without the foil for now and work on trimming the boat. Both weight and drive trim.
Have you tried to trim in a little and are you sure it does actually trim in all the way?
Just because you can trim way out doesn't mean it is a good idea to run that way.And you may have to adjust trim with every speed change or even if someone moves around in the boat.

Thanks for the suggestions.
This is a problem i have had since i bought the boat.I did check and it does trim in all the way.
I have to trim out very little while under way.
I have moved gear around in the boat and it made no difference. The hydofoil seemed to help a little. After installing it the listing problem started. It also now pulls to the left in the steering..
Do the self adjusting smart tabs really work?

The hydrofoil is likely causing as many problems as it is fixing.
It has to be completely out of the water when underway, or it will cause listing, drag, and actually keep the boat from getting up on extended plane. Sounds like the foil is bent/warped, or the outdrive is mounted too low in the transom.

The owner of Nauticus comes here quite often.
His screen name is nautiJohn.
He offers much tech support and installation support in his posts here.
Many members here have a set of Smart Tabs and swear by them.

Use the "search" feature at the top of the page and seach for "smart tabs". Enjoy reading the dozens of testimonials from iboats menbers.

Here is one:
if you don't have them you should! i installed smart tabs yesterday and man what a difference they made. i put the boat in the lake yesterday on a day that i normally would not go out with 15 to 20 mph winds but i just had to see if all the hype was true. well let just say it has never ridden as good as it did through all the chop and the plane time was reduced greatly.
thanks john for such a great product the best addition i have added sence i've owned the boat.
thanks again bert

http://forums.iboats.com/cgi-bin/ubb/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=1;t=014086#000000

Need help selecting the right one, contact nautiJohn.

Re: Suggestions?-porpoising

I got the Smart tabs installed,The blems looked fine, only one very small scratch.I will test them out tomorrow.I hope they solve the problems i was having.I mounted them 3 and a half inches from outside edge of transom.Set them at a 25 degree angle from the hull..Hopefully i won't need to do alot of adjusting.
