I have a 2000 22 ft. Bennington with a 50hp Johnson motor.
The symptoms are: Motor shake at idle or just above idle. It then smooths out until speed is increased to almost WOT where it once again starts to shake. Feels almost like the engine is missing but I suspect a prop problem. The motor will also pick up rpm's on it's own. An example is we can be running at maybe 4500 rpm's and it will all of a sudden shoot to 5500 roms.
When I took the boat from the marina this summer I received a bill for "prop repair". No explanation as to what they did but I will know that tomorrow.
Anyone got some suggestions as to what I could check here? This problem makes it so bad I don't even want to go to the lake. I am going to talk to the marina tomorrow and ask them what could be causing all this, but wanted to have some knowledge behind my questions.
