Re: suggestions?

hey guys...what's done is done now. Mistakes have been made. I talked a long while with gee gee. It seems so far, it's been a communication breakdown. He's upset because he hasn't been able to clear things up. He enjoys the forum . It's been one bad mishap after the other. He's assured me when he receives the M/O he'll ship. Fair enough for me. That's all I wanted and all I still want.I appreciate your support. He really isn't a bad guy. Seems with the all the bad coincidences , we rightfully were misdirected toward assuming the worst.I say we wait and see what happens. I feel it will work out from here as long as we remain patient.Fair enough? No more name calling, no more pointing the finger. We'll wait and see. I'll keep you updated. He's admitted his mistakes. Let him make up for them.

Re: suggestions?

This doesn't make sense.

After it surfaces that a series of accidental screw-ups made this deal go bad, and after Gee Gee says he will make it all good. . . .

Then come the attacks and name calling.

I have deleted several hostile posts (on both sides of the issue).

I agree with Sloopy. :)

Re: suggestions?

I agree with JB let the issue rest and let the 2 resolve the issue between them at the end of the day we cant do anything but take pot shots and I think the real reason we are all here is to be a community and help each other out with our various motor problems so lets get back to fixing our motors only a few more months until spring

Re: suggestions?

Follow-up here.

Gee Gee, I am glad things are working out. While everything did seem suspicious, I don't have a problem with anyone trying to get to the bottom of things. Yes it was a communication problem and I also thought you may not be on the up and up. For that I apologize. As far as I'm comcerned there are no marks on your name and you are a honorable person.

I will always be suspicious and will play safe most of the time. I have been done wrong too many times because of my initial trust. It is no longer around.

Update on my wife's purchase. Not here yet. The seller has been rated 1,000 times with only 8 bad and most of that was shipping delay. Only one of those was rebutted by the seller who had a great point which was presented up front in plain English before the sale. I think we are dealing with shipping delays due to Christmas. I do question why someone that sells and ships that much stuff does not automatically send a tracking number. Maybe he sent it by way of the post office although they have started tracking too.

Always ask for a tracking number from the seller. Ask them up front. Unfortunately in the above case, I did not deal with the person up front. Also, if you sell anything, get a tracking number from the shipper. These things let you track the package to the door and confirm the who signed for the package. We send at least 10 packages a day here and have been saved by delivery confirmation tracking more than I can imagine. Even the weight of the package is tracked so no one can send you an empty box and say it was delivered if it is a thing with substantial weight.

Update on the middleman company that holds the money until the deal is done. The company was called Trade Direct. Unfortunately it was purchased by another company who went out of business. I do not know if there is another service out there. My friend still buys computers without using the service. He has had some problems, but all have worked out.

Re: suggestions?

msnbc.com had a great series on methods of fraud specifically being used on online auction sites, including shipping bogus packages complete with tracking numbers, Bogus "escrow" companies, and all manner of other ways to defraud. Their analysis was that Ebay and others were somewhat lax in their investigation of this fraud, and it is difficult to completely protect oneself against it. I don't know if it is still in msnbc's archives ( would be in the last 2 weeks or so), but it was a very comprehensive series, and that relatively small high-priced items (such as laptop computers) seem the most prone to fraud.
Bottom line--check everything and anything-don't trust anything to be what it appears to be, and good luck!

John

Re: suggestions?

As promised update. Gee gee has informed me that he did in fact receive M/O. He shipped package and provided me with a Tracking number from the PO. Seems unlike UPS, the Post office charges an additional fee to track online which was probably unknown to both of us. I'll call the number to track in tommorrow .
To bun****, I appreciate your offer but I think we should have it resolved shortly. Thanks ,for the generous offer to ship immediately.
To mellow yellow, I'm still waiting for your email. It's kend414@yahoo.com.Offer still stands but I don't want money just shipping, after you receive items. I won't use those parts again and I'd be glad if they went to good use. :D

Hey everyone,

It sounds like Gee Gee just got some bad breaks. Let's not crucify the guy for a few problems he may have had.

I'm sure we all get a little fuzzy when we're under pressure.

It sounds like things are going to work out.

Re: suggestions?

I have used all the USPS products over the last few years, and when it is really valuable, time sensitive, etc., I go with fedex overnite.

I had a customer send a $2000. money order in the mail, certified, return receipt signature required. Then she left the country for 2 weeks on vacation. I was supposed to ship live animals to the airport she was traveling thru on her return flight. She would pick them up and then drive 150 miles home. But the mail got lost, and all her phone #'s and email addresses were useless. Finally located her father-in-law and he got a message to her sister, then to her in the carribean, told her no money, no ship. Luckily we had done business in the past and she understood. I finally got m/o 1 month after she sent it. Looked like it went thru a shredder and an oil bath, all taped up and ripped. There was a note from the USPS that read "Check contents for missing or damaged contents". Money order was so bad that the bank wouldn't cash it.

I don't know of any lost fedex shipments, but I didn't have anything on the truck that blew up in MO a few months ago either.

Has anyone heard any results of the explosion investigation??????

Re: suggestions?

anyone can sign up for a UPS and fed-ex account
whether you own a business or not. you just call
them and request a pick-up if you need to ship
something. anyone can ship an item to you on your
account also and you can track them on-line on
the respective web sites.
I have purchased a lot of items on ebay, some have
been very expensive. most all shipped on my
fed-ex/UPS account. it's my experience that the
smaller items that go through USPS are the slowest
BY FAR! if it's worth more than $10, I would
reccomend using express mail 2-3 day service.
it has taken me up to 5 weeks to receive something
I bought on ebay, but have never been $crewed.
always get a complete (co.)name, address and ph#.
always call and make sure it's legit before you
send them a dime. money orders are the worst way
to pay for anything. a cashiers check is much better cuz it will give you their bank account info. you can cash a money order anywhere!
a fool and their money are soon parted!
regards,
M.Y.
ps. Ken, you have mail ;)

Re: suggestions?

GeeGee;Ihave been reading these posts with much interest and like everyone else thought you "The Bad Guy". My decision was due to a transaction I had last year through the internet. I advertised that I had a prop for a 25 hp. Johnny-Rude that I would like to see someone get some use out of. I only wanted the postage for sending it.

I got an Email from Alaska, the guy said he'd be glad to send the postage as he was in dire need of the prop. I sent it got a "nice" thank you Email telling me what good shape the prop was in. [I knew that]. Now I have been waiting since last May for the postage.

So you see why people naturally think the worst when something like this happens. Merry Xmas and happy boating. Hal
