Does anyone know a simple way to test the speedo, boat was out of the water recently and the speedo wheel was turning and not blocked.

connect +12 volts and ground, connect the paddle wheel and give it a spin with a squirt from and air hose to spin the wheel. And just so you know, indicated speed on this instrument is in knots -- not mph.

Thanks for feedback, problem is the boat is back in the water so was looking for test on just the Speedo.

So is the gauge in the boat? If it is the test process is the same AFTER you make sure it has +12 volts, ground and the paddle wheel connection is secure on the gauge. If any of these are missing, fix it and go for a ride. If the gauge still doesn't work it, the paddle wheel, wiring between them, or all of these need repair. If the gauge is out of the boat you can't test it without the paddle wheel.
