Most of the entries appear to originate in the USA. There are numerous references to winter and/or freezing temperatures. It's strange how I've realised now that I've taken boating for granted over the last few years. I've never had to worry about freezing or even "winterizing' my boat. It gets used throughout the year, fishing, touring, transporting, race viewing, or even assisting in occasional rescues/tows.
To all those who have to stop boating for a few months each year I give my heartfelt condolences. I hope you all have some other sport to participate in. Till your summer rolls around again I wish you happy christmass and a cheerfull new year.
Regards Ross J.

While visiting your beutiful country about 15 years ago during the holidays it sure was strange to experience New Years' Eve at around midnight at 80 degrees. Wierd to this Northern Hemisphere type person.

Happy holidays.

Ahoy, Ross J.

Of all the places around the world that I visited in the '50s in connection with being a member of the U.S. Navy and a transport aircraft radio operator, NOWHERE was I as welcome and treated as a valued visitor more than in "Kiwi-land". I treasure the memories of a few visits to Christchurch. I wish you and all "Kiwis" the best of holiday seasons.

Red sky at night. . .
JB :)

Re: Summer

In our neck of the woods, our boating season lasts from mid-may through late Oct. While it is a bummer to send the boat to storage, there are other things that are unique to our winter. Such as driving your car on the lake you were just boating on a few months earlier. Enjoying a warm cozy fire while the snow falls outside. Actually using your 4 wheel drive.

I even build my kids an ice rink in the back yard.

And when it is time to get the boat out of storage it is like Christmas all over again..

Although all of this may just be rationalization..

To all fellow boaters! I wish you all a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

I have a son due any time now, another fishing and hunting buddy on the way. If it turns out that he doesn't enjoy it I will love him anyway!

I plan to pull the boat out of storage and clean the dust off since I am house bound.

We can fish year round down here. Power plant lakes are have warm water discharges and in South Texas cold is 40 degrees.

Oh sure... I may have to winterize my boat and can only enjoy it three months out of the year BUT..... At least my toilet water swishes around the bowl in the proper direction!!!

:) Walt
