I believe the 4Runner is rated for 6000lbs, not sure what load the hitch is rated for? New boat is 4000lbs....I need a new truck to tow this right?
Looked it up on NADA and the 4000lbs is only the dry weight of the boat. Add on another 1000-1200 for a tandem trailer plus your fuel weight and any junk you put in the boat.
Do those towing specs take the hood scoop into account?
To be honest, though, I always liked the scoop on the 'Runners. However, they got hideous with the re-design in 2009.
Lol, add 5HP and 50lbs of towing capacity for every Edelbrock/Jegs/Summit sticker, too.

I would recomend a different tow vehicle. I have a 2009 Bryant 233 and a 2004 4runner V-8. At 1 ft shorter and 900 pounds lighter dry weight I can say I would not go any bigger. I had to put airbags in it, my 05 Chap 180 ssi squated the rear, and make sure the tires were fully filled at the 40Psi cold to make me comfortable towing it. I would say I'm at the limit but am not near the 7000 lb capacity.
Been looking at Tundra's, F150s and Ram 1500, 4x4 crewcab....prices are insane, 30k+ for 2012...sigh!
