I have a 1996 trailer & boat with sup-r-lube bearing / greasing device, looks like a bearing buddy. This weekend I put grease in them ( first time since I purchased in Dec ), after about +2 ozs. the old grease started to come out the front. I was kinda greenish/whiteish looking, possilby some water mixed in is my guess. Is this correct or did I overfill and possibly damage them, or should I continue to fill until the new color grease comes out too? Should the grease go thru and out the back of the hub? Please advise. I plan to go on a 6 hour trip and dont need to be on the side of the road with a locked up hub.

If there was a zerk fitting in the center of the axle spindle...then you are doing just fine! That is the correct method to fill (and refresh) the bearings. I use a plastic bag to keep it fairly clean.

I suggest that you continue filling until you see the color of the grease that you are adding. Then 'scoop' out a small amount, for expansion room as the bearings get warm.

Thanks, thats exactly what I'm seeing. Guess I will buy some more grease and continue to fill them up until the new color begins to flow.

Don't you blow out the rear seal by doing it this way? I have the same setup up and had to replace 4 spindles, bearings, seals, after 9 months of use because it slung grease and water rusted the spindle seal surface, and where the bearing rest on spindle.

Super Lube hubs don't have a pressure plate like Bearing Buddies do. You can't blow out the inner seal since they don't operate under pressure.

What is a pressure plate?

On my setup, it's Double lip inner seal, inner bearing, outer bearing, washer, nut, then retainer.
