Super clean '82 Merc 80hp

Hey guys as some of you know I finally saved up $1300 for a side imaging fishfinder. I also just sold my '67 650 cause it didn't have powertrim and I got $700 for it. So here's my dilemma, I can either spend the $2000 on a pretty fresh 60-85hp motor for my Starcraft or I can buy this superclean '82 Merc 80horse with powertrim and fresh stainless steel prop for $700, and still have the dough for some new electronics. What do you guys think, either way is a win win because I would basically trade a '67 65hp for a cleaner '82 80hp with TNT. Opinions??

Outboards have a long life provided they get proper care. A well cared for 30 year old outboard may be as good as new or a candidate for sale by the pound.

Given the cost differential I would invest in a thorough testing of the '82 and, if she is healthy, go for some bling.
