thanks for the advice everyone, you guys have been great. I will have to investigate this in greater detail, I am sure this thing is running hot and without a thermostat in place? well I must say I am stumped, thanks again everyone I do appreciate the help.

Hippie,
Glad to hear you're gettin' into this motor. Until your manual comes, go over to the library, and look thru a Seloc or Clymer manual. That'll give you a general idea of how things go together, etc.

Once you replace the impeller/pump/thermostat, you should have no problems with cooling. She's running hot, most likely because the impeller's worn and can't get enough water thru the system.

You're gonna like this motor once you get her going...

I cant seem to find any parts for this oldie on this site, they are all 74 and newer, any idea where I can order them from?
